Feedback is an important tool for managers to train and develop their direct reports. However, most managers do not like to give feedback, and most employees feel that they don’t receive enough and useful feedback. Alexander will address key steps to create a feedback process that serves the needs of employees and their companies. In his practitioner-focused and hands-on talk, he will demonstrate how to abandon the “feedback sandwich” in favor of effective feedback procedures, use feedback as a training and development tool, and ensure that feedback is tied to a company’s goals. He will further discuss how to ensure that a feedback culture does not evolve into a toxic culture of criticism.
