Developing Adaptive and Vibrant Workplaces through Mindfulness Practice

About the Talk

In the wake of COVID-19 and the Great Resignation, Talent Development professionals face a stark new challenge. Employee attention is now bombarded and overtaxed in ways that adversely impact ethical decision-making, creativity, and prosocial behavior. Dr. Bill Brendel is helping to address these issues by developing innovative leadership development approaches that are based on the ancient wisdom tradition of mindfulness practice.

Mindfulness practice now comprises a billion-dollar training industry present in over 60% of large to mid-sized organizations, not only for its ability to increase well-being, but also its power to increase creativity, prosocial behaviors, metacognition, improved problem-solving capabilities and dialectical thinking. It’s no wonder that the search term Mindful Leadership currently produces over 60 million results in Google!

In this session, you will learn about a helpful developmental model called Conscious Agility, which refers to an employee’s ability to regulate consciousness through mindfulness practice to reduce attachments to expertise and ego, thereby increasing effectiveness in innovative tasks and inclusive behaviors.

You will also learn about applied mindfulness competencies (reappraising, decentering, stopping, and more) and learning approaches that can help your employees in critical practices such as developing inclusive teams, engaging in creative thinking, navigating conflict, and making ethical decisions.
